Message of many words, two of which are quadruplet and quadrangle. Quadruplet is any group of four and could, therefore, apply to a pair of mufflers each of which has two tips, whether the tips be round or square. Quadrangle is a plane figure having four sides, e.g. square, rectangle, and with regard to mufflers would apply to the B&B and not the dual round tipped LaBree.

IMO, as the term is used in this forum, it is the square shape and not the total number of tips that it refers to. But it's easy to see why people get confused..
